The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspect for the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Maiduwa village, Fika LGA of the state.
Operatives of the command arrested the suspect following a swift response by personnel from the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said they arrested the suspect after a distress call from the guardian of the female survivor.
He said the operatives of the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters promptly apprehended the suspect, one Ishiaku Bukar (22) of the same address.

According to Abdulkarim, the suspect lured the survivor to his farm under the pretext of offering assistance with a promise of a reward, but instead took advantage of the situation and raped her.
He added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.
He said investigation is ongoing, while medical evaluation and treatment of the survivor have commenced.
Abdulkarim further stated that as farming activities resume across the state, reports of harassment and abuse against women and children employed as farmhands have been received occasionally.
The command, therefore, warns that anyone found perpetrating such heinous acts will be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.
