Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist, identified as 26-year-old Friday Oghenemaro, in possession of a firearm.
The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspect was apprehended by officers in the Ozoro area of Delta State while they were on a township patrol.
He noted that after the suspect was taken into custody, a search led to the recovery of a locally made Beretta pistol.
He further explained that preliminary investigations revealed the suspect is a member of the “Aye” confraternity and was in possession of the weapon due to his involvement with the cult group.
According to Edafe, the suspect confessed to having been in possession of the firearm since his secondary school days.
The spokesperson added that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.
