The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious drug trafficker and recovered 2,000 tablets of suspected Diazepam during an operation in Funtua Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Jibrin Salisu, aged 27, was apprehended by operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Funtua, while on routine anti-crime patrol on June 15, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, officers intercepted Salisu while he was riding a motorcycle and recovered two sachets containing 2,000 tablets suspected to be Diazepam during a search.
Police said the suspect confessed during interrogation that he had received the drugs from a 26-year-old woman, Faith Eze, for delivery to an accomplice identified only as “Gurgu,” who remains at large.

Acting on the information, operatives launched a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of Eze, who also allegedly confessed to involvement in the illicit drug trade.
The command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and dismantle the network behind the operation.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Ali Umar Fage, reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and abuse, warning those involved in the sale and distribution of illicit substances to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
