Police in Ekiti have arrested a suspect believed to have killed the traditional ruler of Odo Oro in Ikole Local Government Area, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin

The suspect is said to have stabbed the monarch on Monday after he met with palace chiefs on matters affecting the community and escaped into the bush.

A manhunt later began, leading to his arrest on Monday at 4.30pm around Ajao Market in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Police spokesman DSP Caleb Ikechukwu named the suspected as Omoniyi Ademola Stephen.

"He confessed to the act and our investigation continues. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation."
