Police arrest suspected robbers, recover stolen livestock

The Ondo State Police Command has successfully busted a four-man armed robbery gang notorious for violent attacks and vehicle thefts across Akure, Owo, and surrounding areas.

Mr. Adebowale Lawal, the state Commissioner of Police, announced this on Sunday in Akure while briefing newsmen on the command’s recent achievements.

Lawal stated that the arrests stemmed from a reported armed robbery incident in Akure on June 27, which involved the theft of a vehicle and other valuables.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command’s Tactical Intelligence and Response Squad (TIRS) tracked and apprehended two key suspects outside Ondo State,” Lawal explained, “Subsequent intelligence breakthroughs led to the arrest of two additional members of the gang, including a suspected habitual receiver of stolen items.” (NAN)

Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate has been actively involved in a network specializing in car snatching and trafficking. So far, authorities have recovered a number of stolen items, including a vehicle and several mobile devices. (NAN)
