Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a prospective police recruit.
The incident occurred on February 26, 2026, when the victim was attacked while returning to Qua’anpan Local Government Area after a recruitment screening exercise.
Police said the assailants robbed the victim of a Samsung Galaxy phone, a power bank and N25,000 before abducting him to a bush in Gada Biu, where he was held briefly and later released.
Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, Bassy Ewan, identified them as Prince Bernard Bassey, 25, and Sunday Laraba.
“Upon receiving the complaint, we directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to act immediately, and the suspects were arrested the same day,” he said. Items recovered from them include hard drugs, sharp objects and several SIM cards.
The suspects are in custody and will be charged to court after investigations.
