Lagos State Police Command at the weekend arrested three persons over their alleged involvement in the production of fake drinks in the state.

Spokesman of the command, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest identified the suspects as Dare Shittu, 27; Shittu Opeyemi Abdusalam, 19 and Oyenuga Biola, 29.

He said the suspects were arrested at Apongbon area of Lagos Island.

He said: “At about 12.00noon, based on information received about illegal production of alcoholic beverages at No. 5 Chapel Street off Apongbon, Lagos Island, a team of operatives from the State Intelligence Bureau was deployed to the area on surveillance patrol.

“The operation led to the arrest of three suspects and a large quantity of alcoholic beverages suspected to be adulterated was also recovered. The beverages brands included, Hennessy Vsop, Hennessy Xo, Moet Chandon, Jack Daniel, Remy Martins, Red Label and others.

“Also recovered from the illegal production mini factory are jerricans of substances suspected to be ethanol, cognac coloration, rubber corks, top corks, labels, stickers and other instruments used in the illegal business.
