The Gombe State Police Command says it has arrested two people in possession of the N22.5 million fake naira notes.

 The state Commissioner of Police, Shina Tairu Olukolu, disclosed this while parading the suspects, Sani Ibrahim, 29, alias Orji of Gasol LGA of Taraba State and Ya’u Bello, 42, of Hammadu Kafi area of Akko LGA of Gombe State at the Command Headquarters in Gombe.

He said the suspects, who belonged to a syndicate of fake currency dealers, were arrested by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) during stop and search operations around Billiri LGA of the state.

 Olukolu said in the course of their search, the sum of N22.5 million fake one thousand naira notes were intercepted by the F-SARS operatives from the two arrested who, he added, were helping the police in their investigation.

Meanwhile, CP Olukolu added that the command has also smashed a syndicate of motorcycles thieves in the state and successfully recovered 14 suspected stolen motorcycles.

 He said the motorcycles were recovered as a result of credible information received from members of the public in Bojude town of Kwami LGA, after 17 motorcycles were sold under suspicious circumstances.

 The police commissioner revealed that a suspect known as Ambaliya was arrested, saying that efforts were ongoing by the police to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.

Olukolu reiterated the resolve of the entire officers and men of the command to eradicate crime and criminal activities in the state.
