Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 400-level banking and finance student of the Delta State University, Abraka, Nelson Eserada, for allegedly faking his own kidnap.
The spokesman of the command, Bright Edafe, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the suspect’s accomplice, Jerry Lawrence, of Jeddo community in Warri, was also arrested.
Edafe said the arrest followed a complaint made by the chief suspect’s father, Nelson Eserada, who said his son was kidnapped and that the abductors demanded a ransom of N50m in Bitcoin.

He further said that the prime suspect also sent a video of himself tied and being tortured.
He added that preliminary investigation revealed that the father had already paid the sum of N5.2m through a Bitcoin account belonging to the accomplice.
