Police assure on probe of student’s death

Police in Sokoto State have assured of thorough investigation into the alleged killing of one Abdullahi Abbati, a student of the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.

The Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani, gave the assurance yesterday while speaking with journalists on the issue. Mani confirmed that the police received complaints from the family of the deceased on the alleged murder and they had commenced investigation. The police spokesman, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, spoke on behalf of the Commissioner. Abdulrashid Yusuf, an uncle of the late Abdullahi Abbati had alleged that his nephew, a 25-year-old student of Health Information and Management, was hacked to death with a machete. He said on Sunday August 26, 2018, at about 7am Abdullahi’s body was found by the road side at Gwiwa Low-Cost Housing Estate in Sokoto metropolis.
