The Yobe State Police Command has banned tinted glasses, covered number plates and overloading of vehicles, especially Keke NAPEP.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, who disclosed this in a statement, said that the Commissioner of Police (CP), Garba Ahmed, noted that Keke NAPEP riders in the state contributed largely to the perpetration of crime and accident-related offences.
He said that intelligence reports indicated that people with dubious characters hid behind tinted glasses to perpetrate crime.
He also said that motorists who were in the habit of covering their number plates or removing them made it difficult to trace their identities in the event of an accident, traffic violation or information required by security operatives.

He, therefore, noted that the command would not hesitate to ensure traffic regulations were strictly followed and that punitive measures awaited anyone found wanting.
