Lagos State Police Command has beefed up its security network around worship centers and parks in the metropolis to checkmate the abduction of children by criminally minded persons.

Already, Area Commanders and their respective Divisional Police Officers (DPO) have been briefed on what to do and placed on red-alert in case of any eventuality.

Both Area Commanders and DPO have been directed by the State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, to post policemen to places of worship and key public installations.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the fresh deployment, also advised Lagos residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement of unfamiliar faces around their environment to the police.

“Lagos State Police Command has deployed adequate number of personnel to places of worships, markets, recreational areas and highways across the state. Personnel from Anti-bomb units are deployed to prayer grounds and worship centers to screen people going into such places. Surveillance patrol teams are equally deployed to places of human gathering to monitor activities of criminal elements who may want to disturb the peace of the state.

He appealed to parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards. He also called on the youths to be law abiding and shun any act of lawlessness, gangsterism and violence.
