Police in Osun State have commenced investigation on a case of sexual molestation of a female student by a staff of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Monday Omo-Etan.

The spokesperson of the police in the state, Folasade Odoro, on Thursday confirmed this to Daily Trust.

Earlier, the spokesman of the university, Abiodun Olarewaju told our reporter that after a meeting on Wednesday evening, the management of the University resolved to suspend Omo-Etan and handed him over to police for further actions over his alleged molestation of the 19-year-old female student at the Centre for Distance Learning of the institution.

Olarewaju explained that OAU management was committed to the total eradication of any form of sexual harassment, molestation or other social vices in the institution.

About three weeks ago, a lecturer at the university’s Department of International Relations, Mr. Olabisi Olaleye, was also suspended for sexually harassing a female student in the department.
