Ogun Police  command yesterday, said they had  uncovered  a factory where adulterated drinks are produced in Ibafo area of Obafemi Owode local government area of  Ogun state.

The 49 year-old alleged operator of the factory, Ibrahim Tunde, was  paraded alongside 30 other suspects at the state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, while parading the suspects, said the suspect was nabbed following an intelligence report.

Oyeyemi said the producer of the original product had lodged a complaint with the Police over the existence of fake products of his brands which led to an investigation.

He said the producer of the  original herbal mixture complained that his customers have been having stomach upset whenever they take the product.

Speaking with newsmen, the suspect explained that he has five marketers and distributors but that he had not  realised  up to N50,000 since he ventured into the illegal business, few months ago.

Tunde, who was producing adulterated herbal mixture popularly called ‘Se Enu Ebo’, claimed to be a trained local pharmacist from Ghana .

“I never had the intension to produce fake drugs. When I was about starting the production of ‘Se Enu ebo herbal mixture’ I registered a trademark name for it but, I wasn’t enlightened about registering with NAFDAC. I never knew that there will be trouble until I saw another cartoon of this same product in the market with a duly registered NAFDAC number.” I discovered my mistakes after I was arrested, I am using this medium to appeal to the government to forgive me, I did this out of ignorance and I will not do it again.”

Another suspect,who is said to be a financier  of cultism activities in some parts of the state, Ajayi Olumide, claimed to be behind the gruesome killing of one of his siblings by another  rival cult groups.

The 35 year-old acclaimed farmer, explained that he was forced to join the Eiye cult group after he was put on a serious pressure  by a friend, identified as Olatunji in 2016.

Other suspects paraded include; suspected internet fraudster, armed robbery suspects among others.
