Police burst criminal hideouts, arrest 23 suspects, recover illicit drugs

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 23 suspects and recovered illicit drugs during raids on criminal hideouts in the state.

The suspects were arrested during operations carried out at identified black spots and criminal hideouts in Okpanam and Asaba axis of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Buffalo Team and the Okpanam Patrol Team of the command.

He said police raided identified black spots, criminal hideouts and brothels within the Okpanam axis and Asaba metropolis on May 22, 2026.

According to him, the operation, carried out around Hausa Market in Okpanam, led to the arrest of 23 suspects and the recovery of 72 bottles of CSC Codeine and 11 packets of Tramadol.

Edafe added that operatives also recovered quantities of Swinol, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

He said the suspects and exhibits had been handed over to the Special Enquiry Unit (SEU) for profiling and further investigation.
