The Enugu State Police Command has dismantled an interstate vehicle theft syndicate operating across Enugu, Abia and Lagos states.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe.

Ndukwe explained that police operatives recovered two Mack trucks and a Toyota Highlander stolen from different locations.

He said that on December 22, 2025, at about 8am, operatives attached to the Emene Police Division acted on credible information regarding a truck theft.

He said, “At the location, they recovered a yellow Mack truck carrying a 40-foot container and another white Mack truck without a registration number. The trucks had been stolen from Aba, Abia State, and transported to a buyer before being intercepted. Two male suspects were subsequently detained in connection with the crime.”

He added that preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects was a Mack truck mechanic residing in Aba, while the other was a scrap dealer.

In a similar operation on December 17, 2025, at about 7pm, Ndukwe said operatives attached to the Uwani Police Division acted on intelligence to detain a male suspect attempting to sell a stolen Toyota Highlander at a car stand in Uwani, Enugu.

He said, “The recovered vehicle – an ox-blood Toyota Highlander with registration number AGL 929 FX – was reportedly stolen from Isolo, Lagos State. The suspect and the vehicle have been handed over to the specific police division in Lagos where the case was originally reported from further investigation.”  (NAN)
