Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 21 suspected cultists during a raid on a hotel in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos, where they had gathered to celebrate the birthday of a wanted kingpin.
The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of April 5, 2026, following credible intelligence.
Police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on cult-related crimes and other criminal networks across the state. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects were celebrating a notorious cult figure identified simply as “Actor,” who is currently at large.
He said the gathering had been under surveillance before operatives moved in and effected the arrests without resistance.
Items recovered from the scene include a locally made firearm, several mobile phones, a laptop, and materials believed to be linked to cult activities.
“The exhibits will aid ongoing efforts to unravel the group’s operations and identify other accomplices,” he said.
Fatai added that the suspects are in custody and will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling cultism and other violent crimes in the state.
