The Kano State Police Command has arraigned eight suspects for various election-related offences.
Spokesman of the command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement yesterday, said the suspects were arraigned before different courts, emphasising that the police would do their best in ensuring peaceful conduct of elections in the state.
Daily Trust reports that the state’s metropolis had witnessed pockets of violence in the last few weeks with reports of clashes between supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and those of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
But Kiyawa, who did not indicate the political affiliation of the suspects, said those arrested were charged with offences ranging from unlawful possession of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to causing grievous hurt and theft.
