Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect, Omotayo Iwajomo, in his hideout in the Ikorodu area of the state.
His arrest follows a massive crackdown on criminal gangs responsible for recent violent crimes in Lagos and neighboring Ogun State.
Several arms and ammunition were recovered by officers during the raid.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating that the operation is part of the command’s efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

Hundeyin disclosed that on July 15, 2025, at about 1 am, based on credible intelligence, a team of special tactical operatives from the command arrested Omotayo Iwajomo, whom he described as a notorious armed robbery suspect, at his hideout in Ikorodu.
“Items recovered include one AK-49 rifle with Breech No. N704983, three magazines, 17 rounds of 47.62mm live ammunition, and three rounds of 9.19mm live ammunition,” he stated.
