The Akwa Ibom State Police Command yesterday cleaned roads, markets and other public places, and carried out free medical outreach to mark the 2026 police week.
The sanitation exercise and medical outreach programmes were designed to promote public health and reinforce community partnership across the State.
Speaking during the sanitation exercise in company of senior officers in some select locations in Uyo, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Baba Mohammed Azare, said the exercise reflects the command’s commitment to community service and resolve to contribute to a cleaner and safer environment.
Azare stated that the medical outreach would enable members of the public access to free medical consultations, basic health screenings, and receive essential medications.
The CP encouraged residents to maintain a clean and healthy environment, noting that collective responsibility and cooperation was crucial in building safer communities.
He emphasised that the command was committed to people-oriented policing and initiatives that promote trust, mutual respect, and synergy with the public.
