Police Command in Ogun State has confirmed shooting of a popular Nigerian actor and movie director, Azeez Ololade Ijaduade, by one of its officers.
The news of the shooting filtered into the social media on Saturday night when a colleague of the victim, Abiodun Adebanjo, with the handle @iamabiodunadebanjo posted the incident on Instagram.
The post read: “Please we need help in Iperu. My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by a Nigeria Police personnel.
“He is presently at Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out.”
It was gathered that the actor is battling for his life at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
Reacting on Sunday, spokesperson of the state command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, explaining that a bullet shell hit the actor in the neck.
“During the Bramaj Company end of year party in a hotel a mobile policeman attached to the Chinese expatriate expended a shot into the air and unfortunately the ammunition shell hit one Azeez Ijaduade “M”, an actor, on the neck.
“He was rushed to hospital in Ilishan and he is in a very stable condition.”
Odutola, however, added that the officer had been arrested and investigation commenced into the incident.
