A Katsina High Court in Malumfashi has awarded a N500 million damages against a police Corporal, Usman Amadu, and one Usman Abdulaziz for intentional malicious prosecution against one Sule Iro Kofar Sauri.

Kofar Sauri had dragged the duo seeking N1m damages against each for malicious prosecution at a chief magistrates’ court in Funtua that ran for over a year.

Daily Trust gathered that the court was said to have exonerated Kofar Sauri and hence to further clear his name, approached the High Court for justice.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Barrister AA Dabo, in a chat with Daily Trust, said the court grated the prayers of his client but reduced the damages to N500m against the two.

He said, “My client at the magistrates’ court was able to prove that the charges against him of alleged gratification and intimidation of a police officer were null and void.

“He felt the need to seek damages and the court has granted him as well,” he added.
