The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom command, Olatoye Durosinmi has ordered the deployment of more security personnel to man correctional facilities in the state.
Durosinmi gave the directive during a tour of correctional facilities located in Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Eket, and Ikot Abasi local government areas.

Speaking on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon said the CP charged the deployed officers to be vigilant and courageous.
He explained that the tour equipped the CP with information on the security situation of each facility, adding that it was a proactive measure to prevent any likely attacks on the facilities in the state.
“As a proactive security measure to prevent any untoward incident, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, CP Olatoye Durosinmi has toured all Correctional Facilities located within the State at Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Eket, and Ikot Abasi.
“While enjoining law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful duties, he urged them to quickly report criminal and suspicious elements to security agencies or call any of the command’s emergency hotlines,” he stated.
