The Jigawa State Police Command has disbursed N31,450,025.16 to the families of 59 police officers who lost their lives in active service.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who stated that the initiative demonstrates the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependents.

The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, under the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, CP Dahiru described the fallen officers as “heroes who laid down their lives in defence of peace, justice, and the unity of the nation.”

He emphasised that their sacrifices would never be forgotten, adding that the Force remains resolute in supporting the welfare of their families.

He urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds for the benefit of their families and dependents, while reaffirming the Force’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and personnel welfare.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Surajo Shehu expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa Command, for their compassion and continued support.

He pledged that the funds would be used responsibly to sustain the legacy and honour the memory of the fallen officers.
