Police douse tension, beef up security in Lagos

Following the alleged plans by some terrorist groups to stage coordinated attacks on some major cities in Nigeria, the Lagos State Police Command yesterday said it had beefed up security around worship centres and recreation centres in the metropolis.

The news of the planned terror attack on major cities, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), had gone viral on social media.

Recalled that terrorists had staged multiple attacks in some suburbs of the FCT in the last one week, killing and abducting some victims in the process.

But, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, said the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and units had been placed on high alert.

He said the command was working with sister security agencies to provide security and assured residents to go about their lawful business without any fear.

“Lagosians are equally enjoined to remain very vigilant and report suspicious movements and persons to security agencies,” he added.
