The Lagos State Police Command has foiled an alleged cult-related attack with the arrest of a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Yusuf Lamina Adigun, 27, was arrested after police operatives intercepted a motorcycle conveying three passengers.
During a search, officers recovered a locally-made pistol loaded with one live cartridge from him.
According to the police, Adigun admitted during preliminary interrogation that he is a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

He allegedly told investigators that he and other members of the group, who are still at large, were on their way to attack some individuals before they were intercepted by the police.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while detectives have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

The command said efforts were also ongoing to recover additional weapons believed to be in the possession of the group.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the operation was part of the command’s sustained crackdown on cultism and other violent crimes across Lagos State.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive operations aimed at ridding the state of cultism and other criminal activities.
