Ogun State Police Command yesterday disclosed arrest of four suspected cultists after its operatives reportedly foiled a plan to carry out an attack in Iwesi Area of Ijebu-Ode.

Our correspondent gathered that this followed report received by the command that members of Eiye confraternity were holding meeting in a hideout preparatory to an alleged planned attack.

A statement signed by the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, directed the officer in-charge Special anti-robbery squad, CSP Tijani Mohammed, move into the area in order to nip in the bud, the planned attack.

According to him, the team stormed the hideout and arrested Tunde Olabinjo, (22 years); Raheem Ibrahim, (28 years ); Tawaq Azeez, (31 years) and Bisoye Ajayi.

Items recovered from them include one cut to size single barrel gun, one locally made pistol and one battle axe.

“The arrested suspects have all confessed to be members of the deadly Eiye cult group and that they were planning to launch an attack on a rival cult group within Ijebu-Ode before they were arrested,” he said.

Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police had ordered a manhunt for other members of the group with a view to bringing them to justice.
