The Enugu Sate Police Command has foiled an armed robbery operation and arrested a suspect near Agric Bank Bus Stop, Independence Layout, Enugu metropolis.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Enugu by the command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
Ndukwe said operatives of the command apprehended a male suspect and recovered an imitation firearm with ammunition during the operation.
“The suspect, Chimuanya Oshim, 28, was arrested on Dec. 13, about 11:30 p.m., while attempting to rob members of the public.
“The arrest followed a prompt response to a distress call by operatives attached to the Independence Layout Police Division.
“At the scene, operatives caught the suspect robbing a young man and recovered a revolver imitation pistol loaded with eight toy bullets.
“The suspect remains in custody and will be arraigned after investigations are concluded,” Ndukwe said.
He added that Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, urged officers to sustain momentum and keep Enugu uninhabitable for unrepentant criminals.(NAN)
