The police in Edo State have commenced a hunt for a man, Wealth Nnamdi, who allegedly killed his pregnant fiancée, identified as Osasu Aimienoho lsaac and her three-year-old stepdaughter, Miracle.
It was gathered that the incident happened at Idiangbona Street in Ovbiogie community in the state.
The late daughter, it was further gathered, was from her previous relationship with another person.
Sources said the suspect, Nnamdi, who hails from Imo State, allegedly joined the woman and her daughter in their apartment at Ovbiogie community where she was doing petty trade.
The deceased popularly called Mama Hallelujah, it was also learnt, had planned her traditional wedding with the suspect for March 29 and church wedding on April 6.
A community source said on the fateful day, the deceased and Nnamdi had an argument and in the process, he killed her and her daughter and absconded.
The source said some neighbours heard of their quarrel but didn’t bother to intervene, thinking it was their usual stuff.
He alleged that after killing the woman and her daughter, the suspect locked the room and fled to an unknown destination.
It was learnt that the stench from the deceased’s room attracted a neighbour who called the police and forced the door open only to discover their lifeless bodies.
The spokesman of the police in the state, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, saying investigation has commenced to arrest the suspect.
He said the police received a report from the deceased’s neighbour that he perceived an offensive odour from his neighbour’s room located on Idiangbona Street in Ovbiogoe community.
He said the room was forced open, only to discover the already decomposing bodies of the woman with an injury that appears to be a machete cut on her head and her baby on the bed.
“During preliminary investigation, all fingers pointed at her live-in lover, simply identified as Wealth Nnamdi, whose wedding with the deceased mother of one was set for March 29
He said the suspect has gone underground since the incident and that the command was doing everything possible to ensure his arrest.
