The FCT Police Commissioner, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Saturday, visited Guzape, Asokoro bypass, Kpaduma, Kugbo and Nyanya hills to assess the security situation in the areas.

Disu, who was accompanied by some senior officers and the anti-kidnap squad of the command, as well as local vigilantes alongside some selected journalists, said he decided to visit the hotspots following the recent kidnap incidents in the area.

He said conducting an operational assessment of crime-prone areas, including Guzape-Asokoro bypass, Kpaduma, Kugbo, Gbaglape, and Nyanya hills is aimed at evaluating security vulnerabilities and also identifying criminal hideouts in order to strengthen security measures.

He said the command would engage some community leaders and residents to map out effective intervention strategies.

He said, “We have been able to identify some key flashpoints and escape routes used by criminals. We shall be intensifying patrols, enhancing surveillance and exploring structural measures to deter criminal activities at the identified hot spots.”

The police commissioner, who expressed the command’s unwavering commitment to securing all parts of the FCT, vowed to ensure that criminal activities are checked in the nation’s capital.

He added, “Criminal elements take advantage of isolated and difficult terrains such as Guzape hills to perpetrate unlawful activities, but we will not allow them to thrive.”

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
