Kano state police command has intercepted quantities of substance confirmed to be illicit drugs worth millions of naira in state metropolis.
A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Magaji Musa Majia said covert operatives attached to the force intercepted the substance while on patrol around Mallam Kato square.
It said the substances were brought into the state from other parts of the country for sale to unsuspecting users.
‘’The command’s covert operatives while on surveillance around Mallam Kato square intercepted a large quantity of Controlled and Substandard drugs that were brought to Kano for sale to unsuspecting persons and drug addicted individuals.
‘’The drugs were classified by Kano State Task Force Officials of the State Ministry of Health as Controlled which include diazepam white and yellow tablets, fortwin injection and neomaline. The Substandard drugs are ibuprofen tabs, quinine, coartem among others all valued at about N33,039,200.00k only’’ it added.
The police also confirmed the arrest of one Abba Sani for alleged peddling of drugs.
The suspect who was said to be from Katsina state was arrested in Sharada area of Kano metropolis in possession of over N490,000 worth of intoxicants meant for sale to youths and women.
Police said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as possible while the command has secured a Court order for the disposal of the products to save lives and mental intelligence of the citizenry.
