Police in Zaria have confiscated fake ampiclox capsules worth N5 million at the Sabon Gari market of the city.
The owners of the consignment have not been arrested, but were said to have to have abandoned the consignment.
Police have delayed briefing journalists.
However a police source said a tipoff led police to storm the market.
The source said some of the traders of the market raised the alarm that led to the arrest, as they were disturbed by the rising sell and buying of fake drugs in the market.
When contacted, the chairman of the Sabon Gari Market Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Mai Gold, said the “disturbing trend” made the leadership of the market to put measures that would bring the menace to an end.
He called on traders to continue to expose those that engage in the illicit practice.
