Police intercept suicide bomber near IDP camp

The police in Borno State yesterday said their operatives foiled a suicide bombing mission behind an IDP camp in Maiduguri. 

Spokesman of the police command, DSP Edet Okon, said in a statement, “Yesterday (Monday), at about 6:50pm, a female suicide bomber was sighted behind Bakassi IDP camp in Maiduguri Metropolis. Conventional policemen alongside their EOD counterparts swung into action… The suspect, one Zara Idriss was rendered safe, arrested and is now held in custody.”

The statement quoted the state commissioner of police as advising members of the public to go about their normal activities without fear but to promptly report any suspicious movement around them.
