The police in Zuba, near Abuja, have arrested two persons in the area over allegation of molesting two teenage girls.
It was gathered that the suspects, Abba Yunusa, 41 and Usman Ibrahim, 45, were earlier arrested by a vigilante group in a rented house around Minister’s Hill area of the town, where they live.
Commander of the Zuba vigilante group, Musa Alhassan, while narrating the incident to Aso Chronicle, said the accused persons, a fruit and roasted meat sellers respectively, used to invite their victims, 12 to 13-year-old girls into their room, when the children were on errand or hawking.
“The action followed a complaint from some residents at the area, and when we received an alert over their presence with the suspects last Saturday we moved in and found them with the two girls inside their room.
“Both girls have confessed to the crime, and disclosed that a mobile phone discovered in their possession was bought for one of them by another person associated to the men, but still at large currently.
“We took them to our office immediately before inviting the police to pick them due to the threat of mob action from the residents,” he said.
When contacted, the Zuba Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Muhammad Yahaya, who gave the ages of the girls as 16 and 15 respectively, added that a medical examination conducted on them, had revealed that both girls were found to have been deflowered long ago.
He stated that, while one of the men confessed to keeping a sexual relationship with one of them, the other said he only inserted his finger in girls’ private part.
The DPO said the suspects would be taken to court after investigation.
