The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video that shows students from a college in Ejigbo smoking and drinking alcohol in the school’s boys’ hostel.
The video, which appeared online recently, was reportedly filmed in April and has sparked public outrage. According to SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police spokesperson, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case from the Ejigbo Police Division.
She said the school’s principal, who doubles as the proprietor, was brought in for questioning and stated that the students in the video had already graduated.
According to her, the school is cooperating with the SCID to uncover the full details of the incident and prevent similar behavior in the future.
Adebisi confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and the results will be made public.
The police spokesperson also called on all secondary schools, both public and private, as well as parents and guardians, to proactively supervise and guide their students and children, emphasizing the importance of good behavior and moral values.
