The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, on Monday urged the police and judiciary to support the fight against gender-based violence.
She made the call in Abuja at the lunch of Cece Yara (Save the Children in Hausa) Foundation and commissioning of the Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre building.

“I’m very sad with the high incidence of children molestation and children abuse and women abuse in our country,” Tallen said. She said her ministry had secured a toll free line 08031230651 for reporting cases of gender-based violence.
In a related development, Director-General, National Centre for Women Development, Mary Ekpere-Eta, has urged families, institutions and communities to stop treating sexual and gender-based violence as a ‘family matter’, but ensure that survivors seek professional help for their physical and mental health.
She spoke yesterday in Abuja at an occasion to mark the #16-Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2020.
