Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers and recovered an AK-47 rifle with live ammunition in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, said the suspects were killed in a shootout with Operation Delta Sweep and vigilantes.
He said the police received information that some kidnappers were sighted at Nniogbo Owa Ekei Boji Boji Owa.
He said, acting on it, the police, in collaboration with vigilantes, stormed the bush where the suspects were operating, and on sighting the teams, the kidnappers engaged them in a gun battle.

He said that in the process, two of the suspected kidnappers sustained gunshot injuries. They were taken to Owa-Alero general hospital, where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Bright said items recovered at the scene include one AK-47 rifle, 40 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two magazines, adding that the police have launched a search for other fleeing members of the gang with a view to bringing them to justice.
