The Kebbi State Police Command has killed one of the eight bandits who invaded the residence of one Alhaji Sani in Botoro Gadi community at Mungadi area of Maiyama Local Government, in Kebbi State.

A release by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said Muhafi Sani and Shamsiya Aliyu were kidnapped during the invasion.

It said that upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer Maiyama led a combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes, trailed the kidnappers, and confronted them.

“As a result, one of the suspected kidnappers was killed, his dane gun and one empty shell of cartridge were recovered,” it said.

It added that a group of bandits also invaded Kwari, a community in Giron Masa area of Shanga Local Government in Kebbi State, and one Suleiman and Yunwa Suleiman were kidnapped during their invasion.

“The Divisional Police Officer in Shanga mobilised a combined team of Policemen, Army personnel, and local vigilantes that engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel.

“During the encounter, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into the forest with fatal gunshot injuries”, it said.

The release said that while the operation was ongoing, Musa Muhammad was arrested at Takware village in Shanghai with three rounds of live ammunition and twenty empty shells of 7.62×39mm.

It added that the two victims who were rescued have been reunited with their families after medical examination.
