Niger state police command had announced that a joint police and vigilante patrol team on Tuesday gunned down a notorious armed banditry kingpin along Rafin-Gora road, Kontagora local government area of the state.
The bandit kingpin identified as Zokala was trapped and attempted to escape the patrol team while riding his daylong CG motorcycle along the road but was gunned down by the team.
The police public relations officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun said the notorious bandit harbours around Kontagora forest and have been terrorizing Beri, Lamba, Kamfanin-waya, Farin-Shige, Bukoki communities and its environs.
He added that effort is on going to apprehend other members of the bandits.
The command also arrested one Buhari Ibrahim in possession of a human eye at Daza village in Munya local government area of Niger state.
According to the PPRO, “Based on credible information received, Police Operatives attached to Gwada Division arrested one Buhari Ibrahim 35yrs ‘m’ of Daza village, Munya LGA in possession of a human eye.
“During interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a herbalist and that one Bitrus Imoh 29yrs of Geneko village Kotonkarfe LGA Kogi State, gave him the human eye in order to prepare a charm for him.
“The said Bitrus who was later arrested claimed to have removed the human eye from the corpse of his late brother who died early this year in the same village.
“Both suspects will soon be arraigned in court for prosecution.”
Another suspect was also arrested by the Police Operatives attached to Zungeru Division for culpable homicide.
The suspect, 25yrs Mohammed Sani of Sahon-Rami Mashegu LGA who boarded an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle, with three others, on reaching a point along the forest around Government Day Secondary School, Zungeru, the suspects pulled out a rope, tied the rider and matcheted him while Mohammed was given the motorcycle to ride to Kebbi State.
The police said he was later arrested by Joint Police/Viglantee on patrol along Zungeru-Wushishi road and led the Police to the scene where the victim was laying dead with deep cut on the neck while the corpse was taken to General Hospital Wushishi for autopsy.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned three others; Ishau, Yahuza and Sani, who are currently at large.
The case according to the PPRO is still under investigation and effort is on going to arrest the fleeing suspects.
