The police in Bauchi State have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and recovered one locally made pistol in Burra town in Ningi LGA.

The command also arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome killing of a policeman in Konkiyel village in Darazo LGA.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement, said the operatives responded to a distress call on August 6, when suspected kidnappers invaded a house in Burra and attempted to kidnap the occupant.

He said, “While struggling, the suspects inflicted multiple machete cuts on the victim and as a result.’’

Responding to the distress call, he said police operatives, led by the DPO, conjunction with vigilantes, swung into action, went to the scene, and that on sighting the police the suspects fired at them but that the superior firepower of the police overwhelmed them which saw them scampering into the bush.

Commenting on the three suspects in connection with the killed policeman, Wakil explained that, “Bala Nazifi Magaji who was attached to Darazo Division was attacked on July 25, 2023, while on official duty at Anguwar Abuja in Konkiyel village.

“The unfortunate incident led to a painstaking investigation by the command to unravel the circumstances that surrounded the death of the officer.”

He said three suspects arrested during the investigation were Aminu Mohammed, aka Kangado (35), of Anguwar Sarkin Baka, Konkiyel village, who was the principal suspect; Abdullahi Abubakar, aka Duna (23), of Bakin Kasuwa, Konkiyel village; and Balarabe Abubakar (34), noting that six others were at large.
