The police in Nasarawa State, working alongside vigilantes and volunteers in Aso Pada, Mararaba community in Karu LGA, have killed a suspected armed robber who had been causing unrest in the area and arrested one other suspect.
The spokesman ogf the command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, explained that on the night of April 5, 2024, the police received information about a gang of eight armed robbers attacking residents of Aso Pada, hence that police officers, vigilantes and community members engaged the criminals, resulting in the neutralisation of one Ifienyichukwu Ilegalu and the arrest of one Edache Joseph (20) in connection with criminal activities.

He said in response to the rising cases of armed robbery in Karu LGA, particularly involving young men aged between 19 and 25, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Shehu-Nadada, revamped the community policing strategy by mobilising the public and vigilante groups to collaborate closely with the police.
