The police in Edo State have killed an armed robber in a gun battle during a robbery operation. 

The spokespersons of the command, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, saying the DPO of Ugbor received a distress call that there was an ongoing robbery operation in Abuja Quarters by Benson Idahosa University, Ugbor GRA, Benin City.

He said the DPO led operatives to the scene with the aim of arresting the suspects but that on sighting the police, they engaged them in a gun battle and that in the process one of the robbers was killed while others escaped.

Nwanbuzor added that effort was on to arrest the fleeing robbers.
