The Taraba State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a notorious militant identified as Nyamadue.

It said Nyamadue was said to be the second-in-command to the wanted criminal Terwase Akwaza also known as Ghana.

Taraba Police Commissioner, CP David Akinremi, disclosed this yesterday while addressing the press on developments in the state.

Akinremi said Nyamadue was killed by men of the command in a shootout while operating along Takum-Katsina Ala road.

He said men of the command got intelligence report on the militant and went after him.

He further disclosed that a G3 rifle with 10 rounds of ammunition and a band of charms were recovered from the criminal. He said other members of the gang ran into nearby bush with gunshot injuries.

Akinremi, therefore advised members of the public in the area to be watchful and report anyone with serious injuries to the police since those injured may be seeking medical attention.

He revealed that several kidnappers and other criminal elements that have been terrorising the people have been arrested and are currently facing trial.

According to him, some of the criminals who confessed also helped the police to recover some stolen items which have either been returned to their owners or are still being used as exhibit in courts.
