The Kwara State Commissioner of Police (CP), Victor Olaiya, has advised motorists in the state to enroll their vehicles in the new police digitised Central Motor Registry (CMR).

 Olaiya said the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) had revitalised and digitised the CMR office to tackle vehicle-related offences and enhance their security.

 Such offences, according to the CP, include car theft, car snatching, kidnapping, carjacking and hit-and-run incidents largely attributed to the use of unregistered vehicles and use of tinted glasses.

 Other accessible services in the new digitised office, he said, included requests for motor vehicle information, change of vehicle ownership, vehicle licence, number plates and chassis.

 The CP listed the benefits of the digitisation of vehicle information to also include enhanced security, efficient law enforcement, crime deterrence, expedited investigation and national security.

He asserted that with the digitised CMR in place, citizens could have greater confidence in the security of their vehicles, saying accurate and real-time vehicle information would assist in the prevention and swift resolution of vehicular crimes, ensuring that citizens’ assets were safeguarded.

 Olaiya, therefore, enjoined vehicle owners in the state to embrace the opportunity of enrolling their vehicles, including motorcycles and tricycles, in the digitised CMR and be part of the collective effort in enhancing security and safety of the state.
