The police in Lagos have arrested 10 suspects for allegedly stealing aluminum cable valued N2 million property of communication giant, MTN.

The suspects were yesterday charged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate, (Mrs.) Oluwayemisi Adelaja, on a two count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

 The suspects are Sunday Joseph, 37, John Chinnedu, 32, Henry Onuawa, 30, Francis Fedella, 22, Daniel Akpan, 29, Sunday Francis, 42, Simeon Eze, 57 and Obinna Nnabue, 28.

 The police, in a charge, alleged that the accused persons had on December 9, 2017, at about 10 pm, at Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, conspired among themselves to steal the aluminum cable.

All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge. Following their pleas, Oliver Mbagwu,  who represented the eight accused person, told the court that his client was arrested in lieu of another escaped suspect.

 Chief magistrate Adelaja, however, dismissed the submission of the lawyer, but told him to file an affidavit to support his claim.

 The accused persons were however admitted to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in the same sum. The matter has been adjourned till January 24, 2018, for mention.
