The police in Gombe have arrested 13 suspects over various crimes including culpable homicide, armed robbery and conspiracy.

Parading the suspects before journalists at the weekend in Gombe, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Garba Mukaddas, said the Kaltungo division of the command arrested one Shedrack Maigari, 45, of Layiro Poshereng village, over a case of murder.

He was alleged to have used a stick to chase stray cows that entered his farm, when he accidently hit one Goodness Yakubu, a three-year-old girl, on her stomach which led to her death.

He said the command also arrested four suspects on November 20 for their alleged involvement in armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

He gave their names as Saleh Ibrahim, 25; Haruna Umar, 27; Ahmadu Rufai, 36 and Umar Ibrahim, 30.

The suspects were alleged to have conspired to attack and injure one Hassan Ahmadu and Lauwali Ibrahim of Garin Zaki village of Yamaltu Deba LGA while coming back from the market.

The police also paraded another suspect, Seyoji Habu, 38, of Keffi, Nasarawa State, over alleged criminal conspiracy, robbery and receiving stolen properties.

According to the police, the suspect alongside six others, now at large, belonged to syndicates that specialized in stealing, robbing and receiving stolen motorcycles from three states of Adamawa, Borno and Gombe, after they must have gotten their owners intoxicated.

Mukaddas said four motorcycles and 11 number plates were recovered from them.

Also, the police commissioner said one Abdulmudallib Mohammed, 22, aka Mara, of Kumbiya-Kumbiya quarters of Gombe metropolis, was arrested with 119 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

He said during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the police that he belonged to a cartel that distributed and sold Indian hemp in the metropolis.

Mukaddas said all the suspects have confessed to their crimes, adding that they would soon be charged to court.
