The police in Katsina have arrested two suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of a 70-year-old woman in the state.

The command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, gave the names of the suspects as Abubakar Yusuf, alias “Kango” and Abubakar Mansur, both 40 years old and from Unguwar Gwanda, Safana LGA of the state.

He said the suspects have since confessed to the crime.

Isah said the suspects were arrested on January 9 based on a tip off.

He said the victim, Hauwa Usman, has identified the suspects to be the ones that kidnapped her.

In a related development, the police command on January 7, at about 8:30am, based on a tip off, also arrested one Mohammed Sani, 28, of Akwanga LGA of Nasarawa State in possession of a Toyota Highlander vehicle while trying to cross the border into Niger Republic.

“In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to have robbed the owner of the said vehicle with others at large, at gun point from Jos, Plateau State.  Investigation is ongoing in both cases,” Isah added.
