The police in Abuja have arrested a 25-year-old robbery suspect, Saliu James, at Nyanya suburb of the FCT.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Sunday Babaji, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the command’s headquarters yesterday, said the suspect confessed sending one Umar Hamza to buy him a pistol, and investigation revealed that the said Umar was already in police custody.

CP Babaji said Saliu later confessed that the aim of buying the pistol was to use it to carry out a robbery operation.

He said, “The suspect further confessed that he stole a Toyota Camry car which he sold to one Samuel Emmanuel who specialises in receiving stolen vehicles.”

The CP further said his men also arrested one Yusuf Isa, a resident of Keffi in Nasarawa State, for stealing a car parked at Zuba axis of the FCT and sold it to one Samuel Emmanuel, a resident of Garaku, Nasarawa State.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspects were two locally made pistols, five vehicles and fabricated keys.
