Police operatives in Rivers State have arrested two suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate operating in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying the suspects confessed to their involvement during interrogation, while efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the gang.
She identified the suspects as Uche Samuel, 45, from Omunato Local Government Area of Imo State, and Nkechi Amadi, 42, from Nekede in Imo State.
According to her, the arrests followed the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, to intensify the crackdown on one-chance operators across the state.

“The Rivers State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on one-chance syndicates with the arrest of two suspected members of a notorious gang operating within the state,” she said.
She added that the suspects confessed to their roles in the criminal activities during investigation, while efforts had been intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
The commissioner reiterated the command’s resolve to rid the state of one chance operators and other violent criminals.
“The Commissioner of Police reiterates that the Rivers State Police Command has declared an on-slot against one-chance operators and all violent criminals.
“He warns that there will be no hiding place and no room for one-chance syndicates or other criminal elements in Rivers State, as the Command will continue to deploy intelligence-driven policing and proactive operations to identify, arrest, and bring offenders to justice.
“The Commissioner further assures residents that the Command remains resolute in ensuring the safety and security of all law-abiding citizens.
“He urges members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible and timely information that will assist the Police in preventing crime and apprehending criminal.” the statement added.
