Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of the Sara-Suka cult in separate operations, recovering dangerous weapons and substances suspected to be hard drugs.

The arrests according to the state police command followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah, aimed at tackling cultism and the abuse of illegal substances across the state.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, one of the suspects, Adam Abdullahi, 18, of Yen Siminti, Rikkos-Jos, was arrested at Gengere area while in possession of a double-edged knife, cult-related attires, and substances suspected to be Crystal Methamphetamine, popularly known as “ice”.

In a similar operation, the command said operatives from Angwan Rogo Division arrested one Khalifa Yusuf, 20, of Angwan Rimi, Jos, at the 011 Prayer Ground opposite the University of Jos permanent site.

He said a knife and some dry leaves suspected to be cannabis were recovered from him, adding that “both suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

The Plateau State Police Command reiterated its commitment to rid the state of cultism and drug-related crimes, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies.
